Courtney Sarah Hayes grew up in Stockton and earned her B.A. in International Relations and Political Science, magna cum laude, from University of the Pacific. While at Pacific, she was a member of the Pacific Legal Scholars honor society and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. She was awarded the Ambassador Richard Pederson Award for Academic Excellence in International Relations and was named Outstanding Senior in Political Science.
Ms. Hayes went on to earn her law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. During law school, she participated in the Medical-Legal Partnership for Seniors elder law clinic where she provided estate planning as well as landlord-tenant and public benefits advocacy to low-income seniors in the Tenderloin district. She further served as Symposium Editor for the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review and was awarded the CALI Award for Excellence in Estate Planning.
Following law school, Ms. Hayes returned to the Central Valley to begin her legal career and joined Kroloff in the fall of 2019. Her practice primarily consists of trust and estate administration and litigation, including guiding executors and administrators through the probate process and representing trustees in trust disputes and breach of fiduciary duty matters. Ms. Hayes also practices estate planning and enjoys meeting with and assisting clients in developing their plan. Her additional practice areas include business litigation on behalf of various local businesses and contractors as well as medical malpractice defense on behalf of insurers, hospitals, and physicians.
Represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in a variety of trust and estate conflicts, including will and trust contests, accounting disputes, and breach of fiduciary duty allegations.
Assists executors and administrators in navigating the probate process.
Represents trustees, including corporate trustees, in trust administration matters.
Represents individuals and various entities in business disputes and litigation, including contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and real property disputes.
Represents hospitals, insurers, and physicians in medical malpractice litigation.
Ms. Hayes lives in Stockton with her husband.
In her spare time, she enjoys riding and training horses for barrel racing.
She also loves traveling and is an accomplished pianist.
