  • Summary

    Christopher Engh has been named Super Lawyer® for Estate Planning in Northern California twelve times.  He is the recipient of an AV® Preeminent™ Rating by Martindale-Hubbell, their highest rating.  Mr. Engh is certified as a specialist in Estate Planning, as well as Trust and Probate law, by the State Bar of California.  He advises clients on estate planning and tax issues and helps them develop plans to pass their assets to their beneficiaries in a manner that accomplishes their goals as efficiently as possible. He prepares both simple and complex Trusts, Wills, and Powers of Attorney for his clients based on their needs and their goals. He also develops more sophisticated plans as appropriate, including family business entities such as partnerships and limited liability companies, charitable trusts, intra-family sales transactions and irrevocable trusts.

    Representative Matters

    • Assists clients with estate and trust administration issues, including handling probate matters and advising trustees in meeting their responsibilities in administering trusts.

    • Handles conflicts that arise in the administration of trusts and estates, including Will and Trust contests; accounting disputes; and breach of fiduciary duty allegations.

    • Represents clients in conservatorship matters, acting as attorney for both conservators and conservatees.

    • Addresses real property tax issues that arise in the administration of trusts and estates and in family business entity transactions.

    • Represents beneficiaries of trusts and estates.

    • Represents fiduciaries in preparing and presenting accountings.

    • Handles a variety of trust and estate disputes, including will and trust contests.

    • Represents trustees, including corporate trustees, in trust administration matters.

    • Represents executors and administrators in probate matters.

    • Court appointed counsel in trust and conservatorship matters.

    • Develops family and business succession strategies and prepares appropriate documentation, including general and limited partnership agreements, governing documents for corporations, operating agreements for limited liability companies, operating and agreements among shareholders and tenants in common.

    • Represents conservators and conservatees in conservatorship matters.

  • Personal/Professional Activities

    • Mr. Engh is a member and Past President of the Stockton Estate Planning Council.

    • He also presents continuing education programs on estate planning and administration to lawyers and others groups.

    • Mr. Engh was Adjunct Professor of Law, Wills & Trusts, Humphreys College, Laurence Drivon School of Law for ten years.

    • Mr. Engh has been active in many community nonprofit organizations, including serving as a member and past president of the San Joaquin County Historical Society and Museum Board of Trustees.

    • He is notably, a past president of the St. Joseph’s Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees.

    • He is also a past member of the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Dining Room.
